Wyoming Outdoors:

Much of Wyoming’s public land is federal land that is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Of the roughly 9 million acres of forest land in Wyoming, a third, or 3.2 million acres, is deemed “roadless.” Most people start yawning when they hear the word road-less, and indeed the word doesn’t explain much. Backcountry recreation areas would be a better term, because our state’s road-less lands are indeed a hunting and fishing Mecca, with free access for everyone.
